Blitar - For sugar self-sufficiency in Indonesia, it is necessary to have adequate infrastructure support to support increasing sugar production at the Rejoso Manis Indo Sugar Factory, which is located in Ds. Rejoso Kec. Binangun Blitar Regency. However, currently, road infrastructure problems are still an obstacle for PG Rejoso Manis Indo to continue to increase sugar production.

Deputy President Director of PT Rejoso Manis Indo - Mitr Phol Group, Syukur Iwantoro said PT RMI agreed with the Blitar Regency Government to realize an increase in the class of roads and bridges in Ds. Rejoso Kec. Binangun Blitar Regency needs to take several steps, one of which is a feasibility test conducted by an independent and credible institution. So the Blitar Regency Government together with PT RMI collaborated with the Expert Team at the Faculty of Civil Engineering ITS Surabaya to conduct a feasibility study with the aim of increasing the class of roads and bridges, along the fin road that crosses the RMI Sugar Factory.

"We are in line with the Blitar Regency Government and have met with a team of experts from ITS to conduct a feasibility study for upgrading roads and bridges. The team of experts from ITS led by Dr. Catur already has experience in conducting this feasibility study." he said.

According to Syukur, from the results of the coordination carried out with a team of experts from ITS to realize the Blitar Regency proposal for an increase in the class of roads and bridges, there are several requirements that must be met. The first is the existence of economic objects that are of national concern in terms of the Central Government. In this case, RMI has fulfilled the first requirement because the Ministry of Industry has designated PT RMI as a National Vital Object (Obvitnas) in the industrial sector. Furthermore, there is a feasibility study conducted by a credible independent institution, as well as the Blitar Regency Spatial Plan (RTRW) which stipulates the Rejoso area and its surroundings as an industrial development area.

"We have fulfilled two points, but for point 3 related to the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) we have not been able to fulfill it because there is no synchronization between the body of the regional regulation and its attachments. So there must be improvements to this. The Regency Government is committed to making revisions." said Gratitude.

This feasibility study will be completed within 2 months and the team will take to the field starting Saturday, August 6, 2022.
